CALIFORNIA CITY, KERN COUNTY — November 4, 2026. The first available election-night tally for California City’s mayoral race showed Isaac Barcelona ahead of Marquette Hawkins. According to Decision Desk HQ, Barcelona had 807 votes (61.32%), while Hawkins had 509 votes (38.68%), a 298-vote difference among 1,316 counted candidate votes. The timestamp was 11:49 p.m. Eastern on November 3, or 8:49 p.m. in California. These totals are preliminary.
What else was on the ballot?
California City residents also voted in separate City Council and city treasurer contests. This mayoral report does not assign a result to those races without verified counts. Local officeholders oversee budgets, roads, land use, community safety and services across a geographically large desert city.
Next steps in the count
More eligible ballots may be processed after Election Night. A first-count lead is not legal certification. Residents can check the Kern County Elections Division and the DDHQ race results for later reporting. California58 will update figures only with a source timestamp and clarify any difference between projections and official counts.
